TELOS PUBLISHING NEWSLETTER - 12 February 2012

Welcome to Telos Towers for 2012! I thought I had released a newsletter in January, but it's not in my 'Sent' bucket so obviously I didn't! Never mind. Here we are anyway ...

We've got some great news for everyone this time about some of the titles that are in preparation for 2012 ... some old favourites, but also some new projects which will hopefully excite and interest readers. As usual, all of our books are researched and produced to the highest standards, and so you're guaranteed a good read whichever you choose.

But first, news of a new title which has just returned from the printers. Slightly delayed from the end of last year, but now available:

RECENTLY RELEASED

HUNTED! THE UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORISED GUIDE TO SUPERNATURAL SEASONS 1-3
by SAM FORD and ANTONY FOGG

Immerse yourself in the dark and dangerous world of the Winchester brothers...

Descend into the delicious detail of demon hunting and deadly mysteries...

Join the authors of Hunted on an in-depth voyage of discovery as they follow Sam and Dean Winchester through three seasons of hunting things and saving people; searching for their dad and dealing with their personal destinies; while never losing sight of the most important asset in their war against supernatural monsters — their own family. And, where Dean's concerned anyway, where the next hot chick carrying a cheeseburger is coming from.

The journey also takes in the making of the series: the goofs, the actors' comments and the writing decisions — good and bad — while providing a critical commentary on all aspects of the show: from the clothes and the music, to the car and the guest stars.

Let Hunted be your guide to the world of Supernatural, and learn how to hunt demons the Winchester way.

500 pages of Supernatural goodness, covering the first three seasons of the show. We have already had a nice comment about the book posted on our facebook page:

"My copy of Hunted arrived today - it's the sort of episode guide I like. Lots of behind the scenes and creative detail, not too much description of what actually happens, crediting the reader with having, you know, actually watched the show!
"Reminds me of the Howe-Stammers-Walker Doctor Who Guides, which is high praise in my book! Well researched, referenced to a scholarly degree and, as always, makes you just want to immerse yourself in the source material all over again. Well done and thank you."

NEW RELEASES

We have a rough schedule drawn up for the first part of 2012, and what we're intending to do is to open online ordering for each title only when we're fairly certain that the book will be available when we say it will. Covers for most of these titles are now available to see on the Telos Facebook Page and on the News Pages of the Telos site.

SONGS FOR EUROPE: THE UNITED KINGDOM AT THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST: VOLUME ONE - THE 1950S AND 1960S
By GORDON ROXBURGH

Every year since 1956 millions of people around Europe and beyond have tuned in to watch the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It has become compulsive viewing, as viewers support their favourite song or country, and eagerly watch the performances and anticipate the excitement of the international voting as the show heads towards its climax.

Through examination of surviving archive material and documentation, plus interviews with those involved both behind and front of the camera, this series of books charts the history of the United Kingdom in the contest. Find out more about how the songs were selected to represent the country, and details on the all important voting each year.

This first volume looks at how the contest was created, and how important the BBC were in influencing its development. There is in depth coverage of those contests staged in the United Kingdom, and interviews with artists, composers and production personnel who took part in both the domestic and international competitions.

A detailed and exhaustive work of reference which fans of music and television history will find invaluable and fascinating.

FAMILY OF ANGELS and ANGELS IN ARMS
By MIKE RIPLEY

Mike Ripley's popular comic crime capers return with two more paperback titles for 2012.

CRACKS IN TIME: THE UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORISED GUIDE TO DOCTOR WHO 2010
By STEPHEN JAMES WALKER

Stephen James Walker returns with a long awaited look at the first Matt Smith season. From the Raggedy Doctor to the climactic events of the Pandorica, no stone is left unturned in the latest of Telos' acclaimed guides to Doctor Who.

BLAKE’S 7: THE MERCHANDISE GUIDE
By MARK OLIVER

Regular readers will know about Telos' groundbreaking series of merchandise guides to Doctor Who (and if not, then where have you been!?) and now Mark Oliver turns his attention to another classic science fiction series, Blake's 7, and presents a detailed guide to every badge, patch, model, audio and video that has ever been released, related to the series. As with the Transcendental Toybox guides, every item is pictured and listed, together with interviews with the creators, and notes, facts and figures on what has been released, and on what was planned but never saw the light of day.

We are hoping, subject to cost, to be able to present this guide in full colour throughout.

BY YOUR COMMAND: THE UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORISED GUIDE TO BATTLESTAR GALACTICA VOL 1
By ALAN STEVENS and FIONA MOORE

Alan and Fiona penned the critically acclaimed guides to Blake's 7 and The Prisoner for Telos, and now they return with a book looking at the original series of Battlestar Galactica and Galactica 1980. There is a second volume planned which covers the new and reimagined series from 2004-2009.

As always, the work is meticulously researched, and takes in unmade scripts as well as early versions of the adventures which were transmitted.

TELOS MOVIE CLASSICS: HULK
By TONY LEE

In a new venture for Telos, critic Tony Lee takes us back to 2003 and the Ang Lee directed version of Marvel's Hulk, starring Eric Bana as the eponymous green giant.

We hope that this will develop into a series of titles, each looking at a different film, and providing facts and critical analysis about the subjects in question.
