TELOS PUBLISHING NEWSLETTER - 6 August 2011

HEAR THE ROAR!

The old eighties series THUNDERCATS has a big following, and there's never been a guidebook to it before, and so Telos is pleased to publish just such a thing. HEAR THE ROAR! is a detailed and authoritative guide to the series, containing interviews with most of the people behind the series.

HEAR THE ROAR! THE UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORISED GUIDE TO THE HIT 1980S SERIES THUNDERCATS
by DAVID CRICHTON

Originally broadcast in 1985, ThunderCats has become one of the most enduring animated series of its era. For the first time in print, Hear the Roar! documents every aspect of the production of this iconic show – told by the people who made it.

Featuring over 80 exclusive interviews with cast and crew members, this definitive reference guide charts ThunderCats' creation and development, drawing on a wealth of never-before-seen production paperwork and leaving no stone unturned.

Dedicated chapters highlight the writing, animating, scoring and recording of ThunderCats, while a comprehensive story guide reviews all 130 episodes, including notes from the scriptwriters themselves! The legendary ThunderCats toy line from LJN Toys is documented too, and even the associated series SilverHawks is explored.

This essential guide to ThunderCats demonstrates why the show continues to thrive, while many of its contemporaries have faded into obscurity.

500pp approx. A5 paperback book. £16.99
ISBN 978-1-84583-038-0 (pb)

Here's a few emails received from people who got copies as soon as it came out:

-----------

"I've got my copy now. I'm amazed at the level of access and research - there's a whole lot of "insider" stuff from just about everybody who was involved in making the show (and is still alive)."

-----------

"For the moment I've only read a tiny bit in it but it's pretty clear already that you did a tremendous job on your book!
It clearly is THE book all us ThunderCats fans have been waiting for for a long, long time!"

-------------

"I got my copy in the post yesterday and it is AN AWESOME purchase!

It has everything and anything that a fan would want! Original concepts and ideas for the show to direct memos about shows and characters is amazing!

There is also goodies such as writer commentaries for all 130 episodes as well as bios on the voice actors and ideas for unused scripts as well as dialogue for one of them! THESE ARE COOL episodes that I hope may come into fruiton at some point in the future!

--------------

I ordered this mighty tome from Amazon (UK) the moment it came out on preorder and received it Monday. Have been pretty busy so far so only had chance to read first 30 pages (of which there are many!) and it's a fascinating insight so far.... Really interesting to hear how the whole Rankin/Bass partnership worked and how organic the creative process was. Not compared to the TV industry today I take it.....!

Had a flick through the book and cannot wait to get to the episode guide (which is like no other) - with comments from the writers, producers etc. It looks great!

Everyone needs holidays and the people at Telos Towers are no different, so for most of August we will be unable to fulfil orders because our Elves will be sunning themselves somewhere hot and recovering their strength for the Autumn. Any orders received from this weekend (6/7 August) through to around the 24 August will have to wait until we are back at the Towers and able to process them again. We will aim to catch up as soon as we can and get anything outstanding despatched as soon as we can after around the 24th, so please be patient with us.

HUNTED! THE UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORISED GUIDE TO SUPERNATURAL SEASONS 1-3
by SAM FORD and ANTONY FOGG

Immerse yourself in the dark and dangerous world of the Winchester brothers ...

Descend into the delicious detail of demon hunting and deadly mysteries ...

Join the authors of Hunted on an in-depth voyage of discovery as they follow Sam and Dean Winchester through three seasons of hunting things and saving people; searching for their dad and dealing with their personal destinies; while never losing sight of the most important asset in their war against supernatural monsters – their own family. And, where Dean’s concerned anyway, where the next hot chick carrying a cheeseburger is coming from.

The journey also takes in the making of the series: the goofs, the actors’ comments and the writing decisions – good and bad – while providing a critical commentary on all aspects of the show: from the clothes and the music, to the car and the guest stars.

Let Hunted be your guide to the world of Supernatural, and learn how to hunt demons the Winchester way.
