TELOS PUBLISHING NEWSLETTER - 28 November 2010

We hope you're all not too cold and are enjoying either the snow, or a warm house in this chilly weather. We have some more news and updates for you regarding Telos' titles this time around.

NEW TITLES

We're pleased to be able to announce a couple more new titles for Telos. Following in the success of Mike Ripley's previous Angel books with Telos, we are publishing two further titles early next year with the same matching jackets as the earlier editions.

The two new editions are of the novels ANGEL CITY and ANGEL CONFIDENTIAL. In Angel City, Fitzroy Maclean Angel's latest escapade sees him caught up in a decidedly dodgy fly-tipping operation – which turns more sinister still as a murder is committed ... In Angel Confidential Angel is on his latest case, which involves a dubious religious cult, an impoverished minor aristocrat with a love of classic cars, a very shady solicitor and his extremely odd wife.

'… enough successful one-liners to keep a television comic going until retirement. Not many crime novels cause one to laugh aloud. This is one of them.' T J Binyon, Daily Telegraph

'Hugely funny, with a catch in the laughter; politicians should steer clear of the talented Mr Ripley as he cuts through the fluff of the Caring Society.' Christopher Wordsworth, The Observer

'Comic crime writing isn't easy, but Ripley's Angel novels are as witty as they are deftly plotted. Ripley's latest is as boisterous and inventive as ever.' Philip Kerr, Time Out

'No contest. If laughter is the best medicine, this should be available on National Health prescription. Crammed with one-liners that provoke groans and giggles in equal measure, Angel Confidential romps confidently along with enormous brio. All this, and a plot too!' Val McDermid

Preordering for both these titles will soon be available on the Telos site.

We also have the previously announced horror collection from Sam Stone coming in February. ZOMBIES IN NEW YORK AND OTHER BLOODY JOTTINGS is a thought provoking and eclectic mix of horror and dark fantasy from the UK's new Queen of Vampire Fiction.

Something is sapping the energy of the usually robust dancers of the Moulin Rouge ... Jack the Ripper’s crimes are investigated by a vampire ... zombies roam the streets of New York ... Clowns die in mysteriously humorous ways ... Welcome to the poetic and horrific world of Sam Stone, where a vampire becomes obsessed with a centuries-old werewolf, and Angels are stalking the undead. Walk through the haunting world of the Toymaker and be hypnotised by the Siren's Song. Fourteen stories of horror and passion and six mythological and erotic poems from the pen of the new Queen of Vampire fiction. Chick-slash has never been so entertaining!

Publishing in February 2011 and being launched at the big LA Doctor Who event, Gallifrey One, ZOMBIES IN NEW YORK will boast a cover by multiple-award winning artist Vincent Chong (you can find some of his work here: http://www.vincentchong-art.co.uk), and features internal illustrations from the blood-soaked pen of Russell Morgan (who can be found online here: http://www.icarussart.com/)

Pre-ordering for the book is now open on the Telos site: http://www.telos.me.uk/category.php?id=3#112

And all pre-ordered copies will come personally signed by Sam herself.

KEEPING THEM IN STOCK

Sometimes we have a struggle to keep titles in stock, demand is so great, and so it is with WIPED, Richard Molesworth's guide to the missing episodes of Doctor Who. We have a reprint underway but won't get copies until maybe the first or second week of December, and so anyone ordering for Christmas presents, especially if you are not in the UK, may be disappointed.

Likewise with copies of THE TARGET BOOK. We are currently sold out of the paperback, but have copies coming back to us from Australia. They are unlikely to arrive before Christmas though, so again, if you have ordered a copy and are hoping that it will arrive before Christmas, then you will probably be disappointed. There's nothing we can do about this. Shipments from overseas arrive as and when they do, and from Australia, you're looking at around a 5-6 week shipping time. We do still have some limited edition hardback copies of this book in stock though, and these would be despatched as soon as we get orders in.

Other titles, like LIBERATION, the guide to Blake's 7, are now sold out, and we're not intending a reprint of them. Unfortunately we have to let some stock slip out of print to make way for new titles.

As we move towards Christmas, we will do our best to fill and despatch all orders as soon as we can so that they hopefully arrive for customers in time.

RELEASE UPDATES

TIMELINK seems to be on the final path to publication now. We have the final changes made to the PDFs, and are just finalising them ready for print at the moment. Hopefully we'll be able to go to print before Christmas on the book and then get copies back after, ready to despatch as a new year present to everyone who has been so patient in waiting for the book. I will also be emailing everyone who has ordered it as soon as we finalise the pricing for it, to confirm the details and to explain the process for refunds should anyone want them.

We're pleased to announce that our best-selling guide to Zombie films, Arnold T Blumberg and Andrew Hershberger's ZOMBIEMANIA, is now available to infect your iPad.

Download link is here: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/zombiemania-hd/id392924568?mt=8

This is the full book, with all images etc in place, so it should look pretty good on the old iPad screen :)

As soon as we get information about other formats, then we'll pass them on.

DESPATCH NOTICE

This is just to let customers know that we will be having a short break in the despatch of all books ordered from Telos direct from now until the 22nd November.

We'll be sorting out all orders received in the meantime after that date, so please be patient and don't bombard us with emails asking where your books are.
