NEW TITLES JAN-JUN 2007

We're pleased to announce four new titles coming from Telos Publishing in the first half of 2007. Online ordering will be added to the Telos site soon.

INSIDE THE HUB: THE UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORISED GUIDE TO TORCHWOOD
Stephen James Walker

Torchwood. Protecting the Earth against alien threats in the 21st Century - the time when everything changes.

Created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Burn Gorman as Owen Harper, Naoko Mori as Toshiko Sato and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones, Torchwood is dark and gritty, rain soaked and blood drenched, sexy and thrilling. Its first season covered subjects as diverse as a sex-addicted alien mist, a powerful Cyberwoman, a telepathy-inducing pendant, an invisible man and alien Weevils.

In this, the first factual book to be published on the series, noted TV historian Stephen James Walker charts the story of Torchwood, complete with character profiles, cast and production team information, behind-the-scenes details and a comprehensive guide to each of the 13 episodes, looking at the key elements and the many links to Doctor Who that permeate the show.

Inside the Hub is every fan's one-stop guide to the secret world of Torchwood.

"Published by Telos, who have obviously decided to corner the market in 'must have' television reference books" Sci-Fi-Online (about Triquetra)

BLACK TIDE
Del Stone Jr

Miller, a university professor, and two of his students take a trip out to a spoil island in the middle of Santa Rosa Sound in the Florida Keys to study the effects of pollution on the flora and fauna. While they are there, a tide of black microbes is released into the river, and floods down and around them. They escape by burying themselves in the sand, but when they emerge, it is to a world which is strangely silent and changed.

Before long, burning figures are glimpsed along the distant banks, dragging themselves into the water. Then the attacks start. With daylight their only weapon, Miller realises that time is running out as an army of the living dead, intent on feasting on their flesh, is gathering in the surrounding waters.

A classic tale of horror in the great tradition of 'Night of the Living Dead'.

£7.99 paperback. Available May 2007.

EARLY COPIES HAVE ARRIVED

We have now received the early copies of ZOMBIEMANIA, TALKBACK 2 (paperback) and HOWE'S TRANSCENDENTAL TOYBOX UPDATE No2. Copies have been mailed to everyone who pre-ordered, and some of the dealers and shops have also had their copies despatched - we don't have enough earlies to send them to all trade orders at this time. As soon as we receive the main stocks (which should be just before Christmas) we will send out all remaining trade orders and these may arrive before or after the holiday, depending on how tight the timings end up being.

We have today received delivery of the paperback edition of SECOND FLIGHT. These will be processed and despatched to pre-orders and shops over the weekend. The hardback copies should be with us next week.

We have also just received back in stock copies of the acclaimed horror novella ASPECTS OF A PSYCHOPATH by Alastair Langston - one of the most brutal and unrelenting horror novellas out there.

Also, we have in stock again a few copies of Telos' first ever title, the horror anthology URBAN GOTHIC. With original fiction from Graham Masterton, Christopher Fowler and a British Fantasy Award winning story from Simon Clark, as well as screenplay adaptations by Debbie Bennett, Steve Lockley and Paul Lewis, and Paul Finch, this is a cracking not-to-be-missed anthology.

WHERE ARE THE NEW BOOKS?

Just a quick update for everyone who has been wondering where the latest titles from Telos have got to ...

Basically they are all at the printers but some have been hit with unexpected technical problems which we have now sorted, but which have delayed delivery dates.

The best dates we have been given now for the various titles are as follows:

SECOND FLIGHT - sometime towards the end of w/c 13th November (so the 16th or 17th probably)
ZOMBIEMANIA, TALKBACK 2, TOYBOX UPDATE 2 - on all of these we're expecting the early copies some time next week as well, with the bulk of the shipment arriving with us just before Christmas. The hardback of TALKBACK 2 won't be available until late January therefore.

As and when I get further ETA information I'll post an update here, but for the moment this is what we're working towards.

TELOS PUBLISHING WINS WORLD FANTASY AWARD

We have just heard that at the World Fantasy Awards announced on Saturday 4th November at the World Fantasy Convention in Austin, Texas, TELOS PUBLISHING was the recipient of the Special Award: Non-Professional.

The Award was collected by author Graham Joyce on behalf of David J Howe and Stephen James Walker who were unable to attend in person. Graham was able to read out a note from the publishers:

"We're sorry we can't be here in person to collect this Award. To be recognised by a World Fantasy Award is an incredible accolade for us, and as Telos Publishing is a small press and we do what we do for love, this means so much to us. We (that is David Howe and Stephen James Walker) would like to thank everyone who has helped Telos to produce some great genre titles, and who keep the wheels moving behind the scenes. To Roger Anderson our webmaster; Debbie Bennett who handles the online orders; and Rosemary Howe who deals with all the trade orders and paperwork. Also mention must go to Arnold Blumberg, Marie O'Regan and David Brunt who have been handing the typesetting and design, and all our brilliant cover artists. It's a real team effort running a small press and we hope that people will continue to read and appreciate our books for many years to come. Thank you"
